Description

Watercolor décor combined with a mouth-watering menu distinguished this dairy gourmet restaurant, which opened in May 2011. Fresko - Spanish for fresh and its K also stands for Kosher – is a neon-lighted space with sharp, modern Italian furnishings by the Agsia Group, and daring dairy cuisine, a gourmet combination perfected by owner Abraham Getzel. Originally from Venezuela, he sought to amaze diners with a surprising fusion of his homeland’s exotic fare with American-kosher flair. "The combination of flavors in our dishes is a pleasure for the palate," he says. "Each plate is a special experience, and the bright colors create a delightful dining ambience." The true sensation is the eclectic menu popping with dishes from Asian and Mediterranean countries. Executive Chef David Posner boast an impressive, international culinary background with stints at the finest venues in Caracas, the capital of his native Venezuela, at Daniel in New York, and Nobu in Miami. South American influences are enthusiastically reflected in signatures dishes such as the salmon ceviche, salmon marinated in lime juice, with a side of chili and guacamole and tortilla chips. For a middle ground between the exotic and familiar, there’s the three-mushroom, thin-crusted pizza with a cream-based mushroom mix, and slivered in white truffle oil. The Asian synthesis is well-represented with a Japanese salad of raw salmon, kani, avocado, sesame seeds topped with ponzu, a citrus-based sauce. They deliver breakfast to nearby hotels but lunch here is a must for travelers, and an indulgence for locals: soups, wraps, pasta salads, pita with homemade veggie burgers, and a smoothie selection to rival any wine list, including Fresko’s own exceptional wine bar. Have the kiwi cosmo with your Greek salad, or the green lemonade, with basil and mint leaves infusion to accompany the linguine capresa; the beverage is as exceptional as the dish. Desserts are homemade by pastry chef Carlos Moscovici; several standouts include 3-chocolate mousse, the opera cake and the crème brûlée
