Description

Darna, meaning “home” in Moroccan, is a dream-come-true, not just for the owner, Ilan Sibony, and for the Moroccan community in Israel, but for all those who dream about a true peace between ourselves and our neighbors. From its inception, Darna has done everything possible to fulfill its commitment to preserve the culture of Moroccan hospitality, from its culinary excellence to their warm welcome. Everyone who enters Darna will experience the essence of traditional Moroccan hospitality in all its glory. Located in a beautiful 200 year old building in the heart of Jerusalem, Darna brings us the story of Moroccan hospitality as it was woven over thousands of years, from the endless spaces of the Sahara through Tichka and Tudra to the snow-capped peaks of the Atlas Mountains. A journey in space, in time and in taste, fingerprints of the people and tribes that conquered Morocco and were conquered by the magic of its delicacies. Darna has a special tasting menu where you can sample many of their authentic Moroccan fare. It is highly recommended that you get one of their tagine dishes, which is an earthenware crock in which the dish cooks slowly on a charcoal fire. One of the most interesting things about Darna is their wine cellar.
A long hallway tiled with Zellige mosaic leads you to one of the enchanting hidden corners of the restaurant. Imagine an old wooden door supported by a carved arch. Walk down 12 wooden steps to a heavy iron door and you suddenly find yourself standing before the opening of a wine cellar of such charm seen only in fairy tales. Inside are shelves laden with the finest boutique wines from the choice kosher wineries in Israel. Near the exit to the cellar is a wine-tasting room, a magical arched hall inviting you to relax and enjoy the dishes of the house together with a glass of Israel’s finest wine. In Darna's cool wine cellar are stored more than 5000 bottles of Israel's finest wines, each carefully selected. Their wine stuart awaits you and will be delighted in recommending a wine most suited to your taste. In Darna Restaurant there are 200 settings in halls, private rooms and intimate corners, providing privacy at every event. Those interested in celebrating events outside of the restaurant will enjoy the services of professional catering, with a staff experienced in producing events all over the country.
